My New Love, Fresh Turmeric Tea

Turmeric Root Tea

I am in love with drinking turmeric tea! Here is way maybe you should be as well!

Turmeric has been used in recipes and for medicinal purposes for thousands of years throughout Asia, and especially in India. In recent years it has grown in popularity in the West due to numerous scientific studies showing unbelievable health benefits.

Click here to read Healthline for 10 scientific proven health benefits of using turmeric in your diet, including; improved brain function, decreasing inflammation in the body, reducing pain from arthritis, and lowering your risk for heart disease (to name a few).

I make a pot full and sip it through the day. It is a warm, soothing and flavorful experience.

  • Remove the skin

  • Cut into 6-8 thin pieces longways

  • I use 6-8 pieces, but if you want a milder tea use less

  • Place turmeric, 1-2 cinnamon sticks and a dash of black pepper (without the pepper your body won't absorb turmeric or it's many benefits) in to a pot with 6 cups of water

  • Bring to a boil

  • Turn down to a simmer

  • Cook for 30 minutes on a simmer.

  • Pour a cup- add some honey if you like or whisk in some warmed almond milk. Enjoy!

  • Note: When I am home I will leave my pot on simmer all day, which will make a very strong tea.
