Online Pilates Class Must Haves ⭐️
These are the items the Zen TV team and I curated for you, to support you getting the most out of your home workouts with us. Many of these items we use at the studio and will be familiar for you. When we reopen you may decide you prefer to bring you own props with you to cut down on shared surfaces. These are the same brands we use at the studio. I have personally been using Balanced Body and SPRI® for 20 years with my clients and for my own fitness regime. The items with a ⭐️ in front of them are our "Must Have List". This does not mean you have to have all of them or any of them to take our online classes. It is just what we are recommending if you wanted to add in a use the fitness props to your lesson.

This band and one of the balls are our #1 Must Have Pick for your home workouts with us on Zen Fit TV. The band can be used for deeper stretching, like in Juliet's Stretch & Breathe class, or can be used for arm, ab, leg and butt exercises in the Pilates Quarantine Style classes. An ideal purchase to enhance your Stretch & Breathe classes.
An absolute favorite in Zen group classes. This product is on our short list of “Must Haves”, or it’s cousin from SPRI. The purple ball will cost a tad more but is more durable.
A great alternative to the Ribbed Pilates Ball the size and workout will be the same the only difference is the red ball is a slightly cheaper and does not have the lasting power of the purpler ball.
We know that although you make that face when the teacher brings out the Magic circle, you love how it makes your abs, arms and inner thighs feel and look. An ideal piece of equipment for you home workouts and doing our virtual classes. When the studio reopens you can bring you circle to class with you for your personal use.
The name says it, "ultimate booty". These bands are outstanding for getting that extra burn in the booty and hip moves so many of us love. A pair of ankle weights could also work- but the band gives the resistance in both directions, a similar affect to what we get from the springs on the Reformer. The discs are an amazing tool to use to active the deep core and hip muscles many times making Pilates moves even more challenging then the Reformer. They are an absolute favorite with my private clients.
I originally had the Mat listed as the #1 Must Have item, after all we are doing Mat Pilates and mat exercises, but then I thought if someone has a budget of about $30 dollars I would rather they use their carpet, or blankets & towels as their mat and invest in the ball and band. When buying a mat for Pilates you want to buy an exercise mat versus a Yoga mat. A yoga mat is thin and has a sticky quality to it, which is ideal for yoga not for Pilates. In Pilates and floor exercising it is preferred to use a mat with a thicker cushion than a yoga mat can provide. This mat is $20 cheaper then the Balanced Body mat we use at the studio and is also shorter, allowing your head and torso to be on the mat and your legs to remain off. It is also easier to store. Measurements: 48"L x 20"W x 0.5"
The Balanced Body mat is what we use at the studio. It is an excellent mat and is eco-friendly, made with no latex, PVC, phthalates or chloride. It is a full 2 feet longer, not as thick (cushion), and is $19 more than the above featured mat. If price and storage are not of concern go for this mat. Measurements: 72″ x 23″ x 3/8″
Not on the Must Have list but a close second. If you want a little extra arm pop then this is a worthwhile investment. I recommend you get a set of 3's and a set of 5's, which you can always combine them to make 8 bs for the "heavier" exercises.
This is one of my favorites and would be my #2 if this set included the discs that the Ultimate Booty has in it. If you get the Ultimate Booty kit you could always get the resistance handle bands separately, get a yellow and green. This set comes with a door anchor you can use to anchor the bands- this comes very close to mimicking a Reformer. We will not be doing this is in group classes but during a private or semi-private lesson they would be great. If you buy the handle bands al la carte be sure to add on to your purchase the door anchor that is included in this set.
Great for alignment and if you are tight in your hamstrings or lower back. An ideal purchase to enhance your Stretch & Breathe classes.
A wonderful tool for classes, as well as a great way to roll away the tension and knots in your body.An ideal purchase to enhance your Stretch & Breathe classes.
This little ball, measuring in it at 2.5", packs on a ton of muscle realxing punch! Made of hard natural rubber, it’s useful as an intense massage ball for those extra stubborn spots. Sold individually. Recommended to buy 2 to do the maximum exercises and get extra relief. An ideal purchase to enhance your Stretch & Breathe classes.
A deeper massage option then the roller. It gets into the knots breaking them apart quicker. Recommend use daily to relieve muscle stress and soreness. An ideal purchase to enhance your Stretch & Breathe classes.
Ideal for use in the Stretch and Breath class. If you are coming to this class each week this is the firm "pillow" you want to support you in many of the stretches. An ideal purchase to enhance your Stretch & Breathe classes, yoga and as meditation cushion.
Is it time to get a Reformer for your home? You can buy brand new here or contact Juliet she can help you find a used Reformer for less or decide which new model if right for you. Our Zen teachers are doing online private lessons with clients on Reformers as well as mat and other Pilates pieces.
The chair is a great at home piece of original Pilates equipment. Unlike its big sister the Reformer can easily be moved and tucked away. You will get a full body workout and is wonderful for advanced moves that cannot be done on the Reformer. All of the Zen teachers are trained to teach on the Wunda chair and can offer you virtual classes from their home to yours.
Don’t have room for a Reformer this is a great alternative at a fraction of the cost and easily moves out of sight. Pilates Tower for the Home hangs over most doors and can give you a similar work out to the Reformer.
Great for a home practice, ideal for those doing private virtual lessons or that have experience using this small abdominal "torture" device. You will be surprised at how much can
Great for posture alignment and gives a little extra for many Pilates Mat exercises moves
